When Frodo ran off (Feb 26th?) and went up the hill and put on the ring,
Sauron nearly found him but for the interference/distraction of Gandalf.
Gandalf later stated that he sat in a "high place" for this mental
confrontation, and that the next day (Feb 27th) he saw Treebeard in
Fangorn-
so where WAS this "high place" from which he played mind games with
Sauron?
the orignal "Atlas of Middle Earth" has him going to Wellinghall from
Lorien, but is this ever sxplicitly stated?
also - in Gandalf's conversation, he states that after leaving Lorien, "i
came by strange roads ...." to bring messages ... the path from Lorien to
Fangorn seems straightforward - or is the fact that he traversed the
difference in one day allude to a supernatural means of travel, hence
"strange road" refers to mode of trans****tation, not direction of
trans****tation?
