Well, made my way through. I think I preferred "Demon-Haunted World",
as Carl obviously has an axe to grind in "Dot". The axe was the
stagnation in the US Space program.
I have to admit that having heard Carl say several things in 'Dot', I
now view them as gospel. I hadn't realized that there were several very
credible sources of ETI emissions detected already. Carl mentioned that
they weren't yet verifiable (they faded in and out) but other then that,
met all the criteria. Anyone know any more about these?
Something that did make me think - Carl referred to Voyager as "an
American ****p at the borders of the solar system". As a New Zealander,
I originally viewed that as a slight to the rest of us on the planet
that also sup****t the space program - but it's US tax dollars, mostly US
expertise and willpower involved. I fund it a little (the Plantary
Society) but my government does nothing.
So if you're an American, thanks guys. The rest of us will owe you a
huge debt when the planets get opened up - heck,I sound a bit like Carl
there....
